Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir will replace fellow countryman Naseem Shah in Gloucestershire for the remaining T20 Vitality Blast matches for the county side.

Amir, who is no stranger to T20 cricket, having played 50 T20I matches for Pakistan taking 59 wickets, most recently played for Galle Gladiators in the Lanka Premier League, where he made six appearances and led the team to the final. helped to reach.

The county said it awaits approval from Pakistan Cricket Board to Amir to play for them, and said that “it is expected imminently”.

Gloucestershire Cricket Performance Director Steve Snell said: “We are delighted to welcome Mohammad back to the team. He is a proven international player and having his experience available to us for the rest of the Blast tournament will be invaluable.

In April this year, Amir returned to first-class cricket after signing a three-match deal to play for Gloucestershire in the County Championship.

Amir also has previous experience of playing in English cricket, having enjoyed two spells as an overseas signing at Essex in 2017 and 2019. In 2017 he made appearances for Essex during their title-winning County Championship campaign and T20 Blast campaign, which he took. Overall 28 wickets in both competitions.
