Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Russian President Vladimir Putin for about 50 minutes. He laid the most emphasis on the fact that Indians should be allowed to leave the war-zone safely. He also appreciated the ongoing talks between Russia and Ukraine. PM Modi also praised the declaration of ceasefire by Russia and the creation of the Humanitarian Corridor.

Earlier, PM Modi spoke to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for about 35 minutes. The two leaders discussed the current situation in Ukraine. PM Modi also appreciated the efforts for continuous dialogue between Russia and Ukraine.

During his conversation with Zelensky, he thanked Zelensky for helping the Ukrainian government to rescue the stranded Indians in Ukraine safely. PM Modi said that he hopes that the Ukrainian government will continue to help in the efforts to rescue the Indian students trapped in Sumi.

Talk to Putin for the third time in the midst of war

India was away from voting in the UN General Assembly
Voting was held on the night of March 2 on the censure motion against Russia. 141 votes were cast in favor of the proposal and 5 against. 35 countries including India did not participate in the voting. The countries that voted in favor of Russia were Russia, Belarus, North Korea, Eritrea and Syria. The non-attendees included India, China, Pakistan, Iraq and Iran.
