A senior BJP leader pointed out that even Gandhi has been forced to acknowledge the impact of Ujjwala and PM Jan Dhan Yojana. Gandhi said, “… I don’t care much for two or three good policies if they are blowing up our country.”

Rahul Gandhi has admitted that the ‘Ujjwala’ and ‘PM Jan Dhan Yojana’ of Prime Minister Narendra Modi Has “good policies”, but told the University of Cambridge that he would not take them into account because in his view Modi was “blowing the country to pieces”.

This is giving the BJP more fuel to attack Gandhi at the behest of Union Minister Anurag Thakur Rahul Gandhi At least the Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni should have been listened to, who had praised Modi during his visit to India. Thakur said, “Gandhi has a habit of lying and defaming India on foreign soil.”

A senior BJP leader told News18 that even Gandhi has been forced to acknowledge the impact of Modi’s pro-poor policies like Ujjwala and PM Jan Dhan Yojana. “Maybe giving gas cylinders to women or giving people bank accounts is not a bad thing, it is a good thing,” Gandhi said in response to a question at Cambridge University.

“But that kind of misses the point, because in my view Modi is destroying the architecture of India. So I am not too worried about the two-three good policies that he (Modi) is doing, if he is our are blowing the country to pieces,” Gandhi said.

Under Ujjwala, more than 11 lakh LPG connections have been given to women. More than 30 crore bank accounts were opened under PM Jan Dhan Yojana.

On Sikhs, minorities, democracy

The BJP is also not taking kindly to Gandhi’s remark that Modi is alienating Sikhs and minorities. “I have a Sikh gentleman studying here from India, we have Muslims, Christians in India. He is all India. Modi says they are not… Modi says they are second class citizens in India. I do not agree with them,” Gandhi said.

The BJP leader said that Modi never made such a statement and it was all a lie.

Gandhi launched other attacks on Modi at Cambridge, saying Indian democracy was “under pressure and under attack” and that India was facing an attack on the basic structure of the Constitution. “There is surveillance and threats, I had Pegasus on my phone. There is coercion by federal law enforcement agencies. I have several criminal libel cases that should not be criminal libel cases under any circumstances,” Gandhi said.

sore loser?

However, BJP leaders say that the National Herald case against the Gandhi family is in the courts, from where they have not got any relief and are out on bail in a criminal case.

Thakur pointed to Gandhi being out on bail and repeated electoral defeats to attack his comments.

Gandhi said that Modi was imposing an idea on India which India could not assimilate. “India is a union of states, a confederation. He (Modi) is imposing an idea on a Sangh, and it will react.”
