Modi-Shah Loud CM Bommai After BJP Wins 3RS Seats, Hail His Political Strategy

Prime Minister Narendra Modi And Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday lauded Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai for helping the BJP win three Rajya Sabha seats in the biennial election to four seats on Friday. A statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office said that Modi lauded the Chief Minister for his political strategy and acumen, which played a major role in helping the BJP win three seats in the Rajya Sabha elections.

“Modi called Bommai soon after the results were announced and congratulated the chief minister for his role in the victory,” the statement said. Appreciating Bommai, Modi said, “Your efforts in getting three members elected from BJP to Rajya Sabha were priceless. This contribution of Karnataka will inspire more good works.”

BJP national president JP Nadda also called Bommai and congratulated the chief minister, the statement said. Nadda said, ‘Your hard work has paid off. Your strategy has proved successful.

Bommai also received a call from Union Home Minister Amit Shah and expressed happiness over the victory of three BJP candidates as the party’s state leadership ensured victory of its third candidate to overcome a tough political challenge in the numbers game. Appreciating Bommai’s efforts, Shah said, “It is a big gift from Karnataka to increase the party’s strength in the Rajya Sabha.”

In the elections held on Friday, the party was successful in winning three out of four seats. The three winning candidates are Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Kannada film actor-turned-politician Jaggesh and Lahar Singh Siroya, who is considered close to strong BJP leader and former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa. Congress candidate Jairam Ramesh also emerged victorious.

JD(S) and Congress, which had fielded D Kupendra Reddy and Mansoor Ali Khan as the fourth candidate respectively, lost from Siroya. The prospects of the JD(S) party were attacked by the Congress party, which fielded Khan. To further undermine its ambition, two JD(S) MLAs one voted in favor of the Congress and the other suspected of voting for the BJP.
