Modern look, airport-like feel: See photos of India's first revamped station

New Delhi:

India’s first redevelopment station with amenities like luxury hotels, theme-based lighting and interfaith prayer hall will open to the nation on July 16.

According to Western Railway, Gandhinagar Rajdhani railway station in Gujarat will have better facilities, aesthetic station construction and a modern look.

Railway Board Chairman Sunit Sharma said, “The station has been developed on par with airports for the satisfaction of the public.”

There will also be a luxury hotel on top of the station, making it the first of its kind in the country.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the virtual station on Friday And will also flag off two trains.

The station’s redevelopment was conceptualized in 2016 as part of the Railways’ ambitious project to transform the stations into world-class 24×7 transport and business hubs.

Apart from other facilities, the station has a dedicated art gallery with special ticket booking counter, ramps, lifts, dedicated parking space and live LED wall display lounge, among other facilities, the railway said.

The railways said the station is future ready, and the concourse will be used for departing passengers as the number of passengers at the station increases.
