According to the report, the US, UK, Germany and France were all below the global average, with shares ranging from 46 per cent to 50 per cent.

Nearly 59 percent of total web traffic last year was made up by mobile phones — nearly 10 percent more than in 2021, a new report showed Monday.

According to data presented by CasesinosEnLigne.com, mobile Internet traffic has nearly doubled over the past eight years, with nearly two-thirds of web traffic coming from mobile devices.

About 7.4 billion people, or more than 90 percent of the world’s population, own a mobile phone.

This massive user base has helped mobile phones become the most popular device for accessing the Internet, with its share of web traffic increasing year on year, the report said.

Furthermore, as mobile’s share of web traffic continues to grow, 2022 sees a decline in the shares of laptops, PCs, and tablets.

According to the data, laptops and PCs made up 38.9 percent of total web traffic last year, or 10.4 percent less than in 2021, while tablets saw an even worse decline, with their share falling 19.8 percent (year-on-year) . year) to 1.98 per cent.

Other devices such as gaming consoles made up only 0.02 percent of web traffic in 2022, down 33 percent from a year earlier.

The report states that Belgium, Norway and Denmark account for the smallest share of mobile web traffic.

Even though global mobile traffic accounts for 59 percent of all web traffic, there are significant differences between regions and countries, it said.

According to the Global 2023 Global Overview report, Vietnam had the highest share of mobile Internet traffic in 2022, at 86.6 percent, while Turkey and Nigeria were second and third, with 84.9 percent and 83.6 percent, respectively.

According to the report, the US, UK, Germany and France were all below the global average, with shares ranging from 46 per cent to 50 per cent.

On the other hand, mobile phones were least used for web browsing in Denmark and Norway, where they accounted for 32.9 percent and 34.8 percent of total web traffic, respectively.
