MNREGA SCAM: ED started investigation into crores of scams in Khunti and Chatra, the state government had got these cases investigated

The Enforcement Directorate has started a probe into the MNREGA scam case of Rs 18.8 crore in Khunti as well as the irregularities in MNREGA in Chatra to the tune of Rs 6 crore. Along with this, the ED is probing the wrongful allotment of forest land for Palamu’s Kathotia Mines. The ED has given this information to the Jharkhand High Court.

At the time of both the disturbances, IAS Pooja Singhal was the DC of the respective districts. Now the ED is probing these cases afresh. Now the ED has given an affidavit in the High Court that commission amount was taken in the schemes and 10 percent amount was given to the officers.

The accused engineer had said – he used to give money to everyone
In Chatra, in 2007-2008, a case of discrepancy in the amount of MNREGA came to the fore. 6 crore from the amount of MGNREGA was given to two NGOs. The then MLA Vinod Kumar had raised this matter in the assembly in the year 2012. On the other hand, 83 acres of land was given to a private company for mining at Kathoutia Mines in Palamu district. It is alleged that the forest land was allotted to the company wrongly. Both the times Pooja Singhal was DC. At the same time, during the interrogation of ED, an accused engineer Ram Vinod Sinha had told that he used to give the commission amount to everyone.

Let us inform that the investigation of all these cases was done by the state government. DC Pooja Singhal was given a clean chit in these cases, but a public interest litigation filed by a common citizen Arun Kumar Dubey in the Jharkhand High Court has questioned the investigation into the MNREGA scam. ED has started investigation on the hearing of this petition.
