Mysuru: BJP mlc AH Vishwanath on Monday called party general secretary C.T. Sunday For his jokes against former PM Jawaharlal Nehru.
The former minister said that Nehru spent more days in jail than he did, which Ravi should not forget. He asked Ravi to mention former PM Atal Bihari VajpayeeSpeech after the death of Nehru.
“Vajpayee, while condoling the death of Nehru, said that India has lost its prince. He and his family had donated their earnings for India’s independence movement,” Vishwanath said, wondering if Ravi had ever spared even 10 paise for the welfare of the nation.
He should be ashamed of his statements against Nehru, he told reporters, adding such statements portray the BJP in a bad light.
Vishwanath also criticized him against Congress leader Priyank Kharge Vajapayee. “Do you have any point in calling Vajpayee an alcoholic? Like Nehru, he is also internationally renowned,” he said, adding that senior leaders including former CM BS Yediyurappa, HD Kumaraswamy, DV Sadananda Gowda and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge are silent on the issue.
He said that the government names a scheme or project symbolically after a leader, which should be respected.
