‘MLAs will be under tension but…’: Eknath Shinde recalls ‘rebellion’ in Guwahati

Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Saturday said Shiv Sena MLAs who accompanied him to Guwahati experienced moments of tension when they saw TV news stories showing various incidents after their rebellion. At a meeting organized by rebel Shiv Sena MLA Mangesh Kudalkar in suburban Kurla, Shinde said the MLAs would get tensed while watching the news from the Guwahati hotel where they were camping after leaving Maharashtra.

Following the rebellion, Shiv Sainiks held protests against individual MLAs in different parts of Maharashtra, necessitating the deployment of additional police personnel outside the homes and offices of some MLAs.

‘There will be tension in the beginning but feel comfortable later’: Shinde

Shinde told a gathering, “It was said that the MLAs were forcibly kept in a Guwahati hotel, contrary to the fact that they were free and enjoying. The rebellion was not for power. They were initially tensed. But later he felt comfortable,” Shinde told a gathering. ,

He reiterated that the aim of his rebellion was not to capture power, but to advance the ideals of Bal Thackeray, the founder of Shiv Sena, Hindutva and ensure the development of Maharashtra.

Shinde referred to some MLAs dancing in a hotel in Goa, saying they had stayed before returning to Mumbai for floor test. After Shinde’s name was made the Chief Minister, a video of some MLAs dancing in the hotel had gone viral.

“We were criticized for everything. But in Guwahati, we kept our patience. We are staunch Shiv Sainiks and will not tolerate injustice. In Guwahati, we held meetings every day. Initially, we were tense but slowly. Slowly our numbers increased.” Shinde remembered.
