New Delhi: Former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif Appreciated the captain of the women’s team Mithali Raj To show that seasoned players still hold the key to young talent in the set-up.
Captain Mithali scored a brilliant half-century as India beat England by four wickets in the third and final ODI on Saturday. Criticized for having a low strike rate, Mithali rose to the occasion and played a captain’s innings as she remained unbeaten on 75 off 86 balls and saw India home.
Kaif said that we should encourage the youth guns but should not leave the senior players in cricket.
Kaif tweeted, “Mithali Raj shows that in the excitement about young talent, we should not lose patience with our veteran stars.

India lost the three-match ODI series against England but a lone win in the third ODI will give the visitors a much-needed boost ahead of the upcoming T20I leg of the tour.
Mithali feels that winning matches like this can put pressure on England in the T20I series and spectators should be reassured as they are aiming to do well next week.
“Yes, it’s (confidence booster) because that’s what I told the girls, I said – we are still in the series. Winning a game like this puts pressure on them. Coming into T20s needs the whole unit. Reassurance Stay tuned,” Mithali said in a virtual press conference.
“If they win the first two games and then the last one will be the decider and obviously the series will be held enthusiastically. Yes, I am sure the girls will do well T20 format,” he added.
In the third and final ODI, Mithali also became the highest run-scorer in women’s international cricket across all three formats. She became the highest run-scorer, overtaking England’s Charlotte Edwards.
