The Hurriyat Conference, led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, on Monday condemned the registration of an FIR for draping the body in Pakistani flag after the death of hardline separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani last week.

Geelani died at his residence here on Wednesday night after a prolonged illness. The body was buried in the cemetery of a nearby mosque.
In a statement, the Hurriyat said it condemns the registration of an FIR against Geelani’s family.
“The details shared in the media by Gilani’s son that the authorities took the body of the 92-year-old leader in their possession, and buried it on their own without the knowledge and involvement of the family,” is horrifying and painful to hear. Amalgam said.
