Minor kidnapped, forced to marry civil in Delhi; held three | Delhi News – Times of India

New Delhi: A 15-year-old girl was allegedly abducted and forcibly married to a man in Tigri Extension. Police on Thursday said they have arrested three people in the case, including the man she was married to.
On 8 August 2021, the police received information about the kidnapping of the girl from Kalkaji area. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-East) Surendra Choudhary said the victim’s family was nomadic and hailed from Ajmer in Rajasthan. He said that they live on a footpath in Nehru Place.
“On January 10, the girl’s parents informed the police that they had received a call from their missing daughter, stating that she was in Tigri Extension area,” Choudhary said.
A team was formed under the leadership of SHO (Kalkaji) Balbir Singh. Investigation revealed that the phone was active in the C-Block area of ​​Tigri Extension. “After door-to-door verification in the area, a police team was able to trace the victim girl,” the officer said.
After further investigation, the police arrested three persons- Ranjan Kumar (26), Jyoti (28) and Dilip Kumar (28). Jyoti was the mastermind. She and her boyfriend Dileep had kidnapped the poor girl in an auto on the pretext of getting her new clothes. Another officer said, “Jyoti then forcibly married off the minor girl to her drug addict brother Ranjan.” The officer further claimed that the minor was also assaulted.
