This new AI-powered feature will allow users to experience live translations of spoken content on platforms such as YouTube and more.

Microsoft has introduced a series of new features, including a real-time video translation feature that will be added to Microsoft Edge. This new AI-powered feature will allow users to experience live translations of spoken content on platforms such as YouTube, LinkedIn, and Coursera, providing both dubbing and subtitles. Apart from Youtube and educational platforms like Coursera, Microsoft Edge will introduce this real-time translation feature to major news websites such as Reuters, CNBC, and Bloomberg.

Microsoft Edge will get the latest real-time translation feature that allows users to translate from Spanish and Korean to English and from English to German, Hindi, Italian, Russian, and Spanish. This feature has been added so that the video content can be accessible to a larger audience, including those who are deaf or have hearing disabilities. This feature offers live subtitles to viewers.

Microsoft will be expanding the support for additional languages and websites. Users will be able to access a wide range of content, regardless of the original language of the content.

This new real-time translation feature is part of the broader suite of AI enhancements that will be introduced by Microsoft Edge’s Copilot initiative. Users of Edge already have the option of AI tools like video summarization. What this feature does is create a transcript of the video content in a few words in order to make it easier to understand the context of the video.

At the Build 2024, representatives of Microsoft revealed that the translation is done completely on the user’s device. This means that no data from the video leaves the user’s machine. They said, “This means that no segment of the video or audio content ever exits the machine or is processed in the cloud.”

Apart from the real-time translation feature, Microsoft also introduced other new add-ons. One of the highlights was the new abilities of the Copilot initiative. These new features of Copilot will help users with everyday tasks like monitoring emails, automating workflows, aiding in employee onboarding, and performing data entry.
