MGMT denies allegations of ‘ragging’ in RIMS, says scuffle Ranchi News – Times of India

Ranchi: A group of MBBS students of Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) allegedly ragged their junior students late on Saturday night while under the influence of alcohol. NS rim The management, however, denied that there was any ragging, but said that there was a minor scuffle and it was resolved after its intervention.
When TOI spoke to a 2017 batch MBBS student, the student confirmed the ragging and said, “Some of the students of 2019 batch who have not even cleared their final exams and appeared for the supplementary exams are involved in . They stay in Hostel No. 3 and 4, but they went ahead and created a ruckus in Hostel No. 7 by ragging some juniors, which led to a confrontation.
According to RIMS sources, around half a dozen students of the 2019 batch residing in hostel number 3 and 4 organized a party after the supplementary examination was over in a room of their hostel on Saturday night. They were consuming alcohol and later ragged with some students of the 2020 batch in hostel number 7, which is mainly for seniors, and created a ruckus there at midnight.
Sources said that when some senior students of the hostel, preparing for NEET (PG) 2021 to be held on September 11, objected to the uproar, the intoxicated group started misbehaving with them.
As soon as the incident came to light, the hospital management under the leadership of Dean (Students Welfare) Dr Hirendra Birua reached the hostel and talked to the students. “We have spoken to all the students who are said to have been involved in misbehavior. After listening to them, the matter has been resolved.”
Dr Birua rubbished the claims of ragging being an incident and said that students sometimes fall into such incidents and all is well now.
Meanwhile, a delegation led by Junior Doctors Association (JDA) President Dr Vikas Kumar also visited the hostel premises and said that they have spoken to the students as well. He said the association would discuss the issue with the RIMS management on Monday.
