NEW DELHI: With India’s proposed law on data protection expected to make social media platforms liable as publishers of content, metaFacebook, formerly Facebook, on Thursday announced important security initiatives for India targeted at women’s safety.
META announces the launch of StopNCII.org to curb the use of non-consensual intimate images, a safety hub for women in hindi and 11 other Indian languages, and appointed two Indians, journalists Bishakha Datta And social research center‘s Jyoti Vadhera, to the now 14-member global women’s safety expert advisors of META. The platform has launched a similar child protection hub in 12 Indian languages.
