Fashion’s biggest night, the Met Gala is set to return this September, after a hiatus in 2020 due to the pandemic. At this year’s event, also known as Costume Institute Benefit, there will be Indian representation once again. Among the megawatt celebrities who will walk up the stairs of the Metropolitan Museum in their finest attire will be philanthropist and business tycoon Sudha Reddy. This will be the first outing at the glamorous soiree of Sudha, the wife of billionaire Megha Krishna Reddy. As a supporter of the fine arts and widely known for his charitable nature, his appearance at the 2021 Met Gala comes as no surprise.

An ardent connoisseur of art and fashion, Sudha Reddy is regarded as one of South India’s well-known jetsetters and will make her city proud as she will be the first non-film personality from Hyderabad to attend the much-awaited global event. Every year, the Met Gala has a specific dress code tied to the museum’s latest fashion exhibition theme. “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion,” will be the theme of the first exhibition and will open on 18 September 2021 at the Anna Wintour Costume Center. In keeping with the theme of the year, South Indian designer duo Falguni will be rocking a haute couture look by Shane Peacock, who has dressed the likes of Beyonce, Madonna, Katy Perry, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, Kim Kardashian and Lady Gaga. Inspired by the American Revolution, the metallic gold body-hugging gown with its ‘au courant cuts’ will enter a shimmering 4-meter flared trail, imbibing a medley of colors borrowed from the American flag and refined 3 of Swarovski crystals. I wanted to highlight Sudha’s expressive eyes and the contours of her face so I created this beveled piece that starts from her cheekbones and extends to her hair as a string of brilliant bezel set diamonds. The 2021 Met Gala livestream will begin at 5:30 p.m. EST on the night of the event and will be hosted by two special guests: actor and recording artist Keke Palmer, and actor, writer and director Ilana Glazer.
