MEHBOOB KHAN DEATH ANNIVERSARY: Mehboob Khan, one of the greatest Indian filmmakers of all time. Yes, that is how he is still remembered by film fraternity members and cinematographers. The versatile producer-director died of a heart attack on 28 May 1964 and this year marks his 57th death anniversary.
Mehboob Khan was best known for directing the famous film Mother India in 1957. He received two National Film Awards, as well as the Filmfare Awards for Best Film and Best Director, for this brilliant work. In addition, Mehboob Khan produced several hit films while setting up his own production company called Mehboob Productions and later a film studio called Mehboob Studio, which is still quite popular in Bandra, in 1954.

- Allen (1947)
The film was ranked as the sixth highest-grossing Indian film of 1947. The film is about Javed, who falls in love with Nazarparvar, a woman who is his mother’s teacher. Directed by Mehboob Khan, the film starred Surendra, Mohammad Afzal Rizvi, Munawwar Sultana and Leela Mishra. - Anokhi Ada (1948)
It is a romantic drama, directed by Mehboob Khan. The story was of a romantic triangle where a painfully beautiful woman loses her memory in a train accident and suffers from amnesia. Naseem Basu, Surendra and Prem Adeeb were in this film. - Andaz (1949)
It is a Hindi musical drama film with a love triangle starring legendary actors Dilip Kumar, Nargis and VH Desai. In the film, Dilip (Dilip Kumar) falls in love with Neena (Nargis), but she sees him as just a friend. Neena eventually marries Rajan. When he learns that Dilip was once in love with Neena, he misinterprets the situation. - on (1952)
