Meghalaya BJP Wants Two of its Senior MLAs in Conrad Sangma’s New Cabinet

State BJP president Ernest Mowry said it was a coalition government and the central leadership wanted the two MLAs to be included in the new cabinet.

To get a bigger stake in the new government in Meghalaya, the state BJP has asked Conrad Sangma to induct two of its MLAs into the new cabinet.

State BJP president Ernest Mowry said it was a coalition government and both the MLAs were senior and the central leadership wanted them to be included in the new cabinet.

“The central leadership of the BJP as well as the state BJP, we have approached the chief minister, but again, it is his prerogative. However, our central leaders want both the MLAs to be included in the cabinet.

Senior BJP MLA AL Heck said, “Yes, we have asked the party to tell Konrad.”

According to sources, Sangma has faced a lot of difficulty in getting the support of other MLAs and political parties. But the BJP was the first to stand by the National People’s Party, sources said.

Sangma will take oath as the Chief Minister of Meghalaya for a second term on Tuesday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi And Union Home Minister Amit Shah is likely to attend the swearing-in ceremony.
