Meghalaya BJP chief Ernest Mowry sounded the poll bugle after party’s historic victory in Manipur

Buoyed by BJP’s victories in Manipur, Uttar Pradesh, Goa and Uttarakhand, the Meghalaya BJP sounded the poll bugle as state party president Ernest Mowry said, “There is no other option, only the BJP.”

“I think it is time for the people of our state (Meghalaya) to focus on the formation of a new government and look forward to the BJP,” Mawri told reporters in Shillong.

According to the Election Commission website, the ruling BJP alliance is set to return to power in Manipur as it secured 32 seats in the 60-seat assembly.

Congratulating the Manipur BJP on their victory in the 2022 assembly elections, Mawri said, “It is a great achievement for us as a party.”

The state BJP president also criticized the present Conrad Sangma-led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) government in the state for compromising on the health of the people by delaying the medical college and ignoring the status of education.

“Till date, we do not have a single medical college, though we have NEIGRIHMS (North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences), but it belongs to the Centre, though some seats are allotted under state quota,” Mawry said. ,

Reiterating the BJP’s issue of development, Mawri said, “As you have seen in Assam, they have established a medical college in every district of Assam. This is the goal and mission of Prime Minister Narendra Modi…

“I request the people of Meghalaya to vote for the BJP next year. Let us form the government whose main agenda is development and establish more medical colleges in the state because those who aspire to become doctors can study in the state itself,” said Mawri.

Recently, many medical students studying in Ukraine returned to the state but accommodating them became a challenge as the state does not have its own medical college.

The BJP leader further welcomed the decision announced by PM Modi that private medical colleges will charge 50% of their seats at the same rate as government colleges.
