The country’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar participated in the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ meeting. In the meeting, S Jaishankar has spoken on many issues including Russia-Ukrain war, Corona epidemic, terrorism. This is the first meeting of BRICS foreign ministers since the Russo-Ukraine war. China has hosted the meeting of foreign ministers of BRICS countries.

S Jaishankar told BRICS on Pakistan that the group should adopt zero tolerance towards terrorism, especially terrorism taking place on the border.

Rising inflation due to Russia-Ukraine war

In the meeting, the Foreign Minister said – Due to the war in Ukraine, the demand for energy and the prices of food items are increasing all over the world. The rising prices should be reduced for the sake of developing countries. He said that BRICS has repeatedly advocated for equality and respect for international law. Now these promises must be fulfilled.

China hosted the meeting

BRICS is a grouping of 5 developing countries of the world. It consists of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. BRICS represents 41% of the world’s population, 24% of the world’s GDP and 16% of global trade. Today’s meeting is hosted by China. In the meeting, the External Affairs Minister said that BRICS should support the reform of the UN Security Council. Together we must push for credible commitment of resources by developed countries to climate justice.
