Meet This 15-Year Old Afghanistan Spinner Who Is Youngest Ever to Register in IPL 2023 Auctions

The IPL auction is scheduled to take place in Kochi on December 23 and there is one person involved Afghanistan Might grab all the headlines, not to start a bidding war though! In fact, Allah Mohammad Ghazanfar could become the youngest player to be bought in the IPL auction. He is only 15 years old.

As of now, he has registered for the most awaited auction in franchise cricket and is expected to be lucky on the D-day. Here, it must be mentioned that he had put his name forward for the Big Bash League auction, but could not find a buyer.

The 15-year-old is from Paktia province, and is approximately 6 feet 2 inches tall. He has registered himself at a base price of 20 lakhs.

Bowling like Zadran, Ashwin wants to emulate

For now, his bowling action can be traced back to his compatriot Mujeeb Zadran, who is very popular among various franchise scouts across the globe. Still, Afghani said he was inspired by India Spinner Ravi Ashwin.

“Ashwin has been a champion spinner for India, and I like his variations. I have always considered him my inspiration,” Ghazanfar told Sportstar from Kabul on Tuesday.

“I started with tennis ball cricket and used to play in my neighbourhood, but under the guidance of my coach, I started bowling spin, and soon, I developed an action, and since then there has been no looking back,” the youngster he said .

Although he does not understand Hindi, he assures that the language will not be a problem when communicating across different cultures.

I have played a lot of junior cricket and my ultimate goal is to play for Afghanistan. IPL will help me improve my game as I will be able to learn a lot from Indian and foreign players and I am really looking forward to this experience. I hope to be picked up by a franchise,” he said.

Shpageeza League played

After playing in a local under-16 tournament, he got a chance to train with Afghanistan under-19 players and made his Shpageeza League debut for the Mis Ainak Knights. He took five wickets in three matches and took 4 for 15 in his second match against Hindkush Stars.

Once December 23 arrives, he will be glued to the television set just like any other youngster who wants to make it big in cricket.
