Diplomats of big countries in Nepal are often embroiled in controversies regarding their statements and sometimes regarding their political meetings. But US Ambassador to Nepal Randy Berry has become a topic of discussion in the country for a different reason.

Being an ambassador to a Hindu majority nation, Randy Berry has gone beyond the custom of congratulating on local festivals celebrated in Nepal and himself joins the festivities at the embassy along with the staff. He also shares these moments on social media, which has made him popular among ordinary Nepali citizens.

Last week, Randy Berry was seen celebrating the Hindu festival of Chhath Puja in Janakpur and participating in all traditional rituals. They also celebrated Diwali and Dussehra in the embassy by lighting lamps and making rangolis.

Ambassador Randy Berry also has a tattoo of ‘Om’ on his right hand.

Currently, the US ambassador to Nepal is in Rara Tal, a tourist destination that most foreign tourists are not aware of. Seeing the tourism potential in Rara Tal, Berry visited the site with the Australian Ambassador.
