Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said on Monday that the media should not make people fight. His comments come amid an ongoing tussle over leadership in Rajasthan with his former deputy Sachin Pilot.

He said that the election campaign of the Congress in the state would focus on the schemes and programs launched by his government. The Chief Minister also expressed confidence that his party would return to power on the basis of the work done in the last five years.

Gehlot’s comments come in the backdrop of the ongoing dispute with Pilot. Ever since the formation of the Congress government in Rajasthan in December 2018, there has been a dispute between the two over the post of Chief Minister.

Recently, Pilot opened another front against Gehlot by observing a day-long fast, alleging that the state government did not act against alleged corruption during the tenure of the Vasundhara Raje-led BJP government, as in 2018. The promise was made ahead of the assembly elections.

Gehlot, however, did not give any direct response to the attack on Pilot. On Monday, he said that the media should not make people fight.

“Media should stick to truth and facts… Media should not fight us among themselves. They (media persons) should do their duty and it is in public interest… Media should support the government in reiterating this Needed.” True,” he said.

Gehlot told reporters, “I do not say ‘present false figures or give false praise to us’ but I would like the media to run on the basis of truth. The media is under pressure from the central government but they should look at the public interest.” Here.

Talking about his government’s plans and the upcoming assembly polls, the Congress leader said the party’s campaign would focus on his governance plans.

He said, “In elections Prime Minister (Narendra Modi), (Union Home Minister) Amit Shah will participate in big road shows, spend money and do everything to win the election. But we have decided that we will proceed on the basis of ” (State) government’s work,” he said.

Assembly elections are due in Rajasthan later this year. Gehlot said that the state government has taken several decisions and appreciated its excellent fiscal management and steps of not levying any tax.

“We will go ahead with these things. Our campaign will revolve around this. The BJP leaders who come will speak a lot, but we will not pay attention to them. We will do our work,” he said.

Gehlot said that the government is fulfilling its resolve and promises to serve the public.
