MCD polls: Delhi Congress chief Anil Chaudhary’s name missing from voters’ list

New Delhi, December 4 (IANS) | Delhi Congress President Anil Chowdhary on Sunday claimed that he could not vote in the Delhi MCD elections as his name was missing from the voter’s list. Holding AAP and BJP responsible for this, he alleged that not only his name but the names of lakhs of voters have been removed from the list.

When he reached the polling station to exercise his franchise for the MCD elections, he found his name missing from the list. He alleged that like in Uttar Pradesh, names of voters in Dalit and Muslim-dominated areas have been struck off in Delhi.

Chaudhary said that he had voted in the previous election and being a former MLA, he is a marked voter whose name cannot be struck off, but despite this his name has been struck off.

He said that he complained to the Election Commission but to no avail.

Chowdhary claimed that people are constantly calling the Congress control room that their names have been struck off the voter list.

He said that voters are being deprived of their right to vote in the elections and the silence of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in this matter is questionable.

Polling is underway for 250 wards and will end by 5.30 pm, with the counting of votes taking place on December 7.
