MCD Elections: Delhi Metro services to start early on Sunday, 4 December- check revised timing here

In view of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections to be held on Sunday, Delhi Metro has changed the metro timings for 4th December 2022. DMRC announced that Metro services will start soon from all stations on the day of MCD election. The metro schedule has been changed for the convenience of commuters traveling to cast their votes in the elections. Significantly, the organization changes the timings of the Metro whenever there is an important event in the national capital.

In its announcement, Delhi Metro said, “Delhi Metro train services on all lines will commence at 04:00 AM from all terminal stations on December 04, 2022 (Sunday) the day of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi Elections. Trains will run at 06:00 AM: 00 PM on all lines at an interval of 30 minutes. After 6:00 AM, Metro trains will run as per the normal Sunday timetable throughout the day.”

MCD elections for 250 wards are to be held in Delhi on December 4. This election is being seen as a triangular contest between BJP, AAP and Congress. The counting of the election results will take place on December 8.

Earlier, the Delhi Metro had made a similar announcement to start early services on June 5 in view of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exams. The schedule has been changed for the convenience of the candidates appearing in the examination.

Similar changes were made in metro timings on 11 October for the India vs South Africa One Day International cricket match to be held at Delhi’s Ferozshah Kotla ground. At that time the DMRC extended the metro timings by 30-45 minutes to facilitate the fans coming to the cricket stadium to watch the matches.
