Manish Sisodia, accused in the liquor scam case, has been arrested after eight hours of questioning. “Sisodia has been arrested not only for being an accused but also for destroying evidence. The agencies of this country reach the accused persons sooner or later. The mastermind has not been arrested yet.

Soon after the arrest of Manish Sisodia, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday said that ‘honest and nationalist’ people were being arrested across the country. Soon after Sisodia’s arrest, Kejriwal and his wife also reached Deputy CM Manish Sisodia’s residence. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann also reached Sisodia’s residence and assured him of full support.

Speaking to reporters, Kejriwal said, “Manish Sisodia is an honest person. He has been serving the country. He worked hard for the underprivileged students and transformed Delhi’s government schools. Today he has been arrested.” ” “We are seeing how many honest and nationalist people are being arrested across the country,” he said.



CBI arrests Sisodia in liquor scam case


The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Sunday after eight hours of questioning in the alleged Delhi Liquor Excise Policy case. Shortly before reaching the CBI office for questioning, the deputy chief minister said “false cases” were being filed against politicians as Prime Minister Narendra Modi was “scared” of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. “Conspiracy is being hatched by CBI and ED and false cases are being filed against our party leaders because PM Narendra Modi is scared of CM Arvind Kejriwal’s rising popularity. As you move forward, BJP will start spreading falsehood on us. Cases will continue to be imposed.” We are not afraid of CBI, ED and their false cases, Sisodia said, claiming that people have started considering AAP as an alternative to BJP.

Delhi Police detained 50 AAP workers and leaders. Delhi Police said AAP workers and prominent leaders, including Sanjay Singh, were detained for allegedly violating Section 144 of the CrPC.

“A total of 50 people, including 42 men and 8 women, have been detained,” Delhi Police said. The CBI had earlier asked Sisodia to appear for questioning on February 19. Last Sunday, Sisodia had requested the central agency to postpone the questioning, saying he was currently “preparing the budget” and could appear only in February-end.

Sisodia not named in CBI chargesheet


Sisodia has not been named as an accused in the CBI charge sheet filed in the case. Arrested businessmen Vijay Nair and Abhishek are among the seven accused named in the charge sheet. In August last year, the CBI had searched Sisodia’s bank locker in connection with the case. The deputy CM claimed that investigators did not find any incriminating material in his locker.

Last year, several raids were conducted at 21 locations in Delhi and the National Capital Region, including Sisodia’s residence and premises of four public servants, according to a CBI official, who further said that the raids were conducted in 7 states. The CBI took over the investigation of the case on the basis of a report by the Chief Secretary of Delhi to LG Saxena recommending a probe by the central agency.

AAP’s nationwide protest against Sisodia’s arrest

The Aam Aadmi Party will take to the streets and protest across the country on Monday against the arrest of Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia in the alleged liquor excise policy case in Delhi. AAP’s National General Secretary Sandeep Pathak said that they will protest across the country on Monday. Pathak said on Twitter on Sunday, ‘Manish Sisodia, the great education minister who has shaped the future of millions of children of the country, has been arrested in a fake case.

The party will also protest at the Bharatiya Janata Party headquarters on Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg in the national capital at around 12 noon on Monday. It is believed that the party will protest in Gujarat’s Gandhinagar, Haryana’s Rohtak, Noida etc. The AAP leader, accused number one in the CBI FIR, was questioned for the first time on October 17.
