Marathi TV actor Ajinkya Raut reveals how he was ridiculed for his language

The actor said that he also tried to change the way he spoke as all his friends, colleagues and neighbors used to make fun of him.

In rural areas they are often ridiculed for their language. He revealed that he too had to go through the same unpleasant experience.

The actor said that since he hails from Marathwada, his language and pronunciation are different from those of Pune and Mumbai. When the actor reached Pune and later moved to Mumbai in search of work, he realized that his local accent was inappropriate and a sense of guilt surrounded him.

Marathwada is a region of Maharashtra that was created during the Nizam’s rule and was part of the Hyderabad state. This region is in the border of the states of Telangana and Karnataka. Aurangabad, Nanded, Beed, Jalna and Latur districts fall in this region.

The actor said that he also tried to change the way he spoke as all his friends, colleagues and neighbors used to make fun of him. This also prompted him to stop speaking in Marathi and he preferred to converse with others in Hindi or English and surprisingly was praised for this.
