Marathi film Vaalvi secures a decent number of seats in the theatres amid the Pathaan fever.

According to Mangesh Kulkarni, Business Head, Zee Studios, the positive response from fans for Vaalvi has been overwhelming.

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s latest release Pathan has won the hearts of people. Several videos of Shah Rukh joining the frenzy of fanatics and dancing his heart out to the song Jhoom Jo Pathan have gone viral. Not to forget that in just one week of its release, the Siddharth Anand directorial has grossed over Rs 500 crore surpassing the records of many films.

Amid non-stop buzz about the action entertainer, regional films are failing to secure seats in theatres. However, sprouting like a delicate flower, a Marathi language film titled Vaalvi looks like giving good competition to the Shah Rukh and Deepika Padukone-starrer. Directed by Paresh Mokashi, Vaalvi was released on the silver screens on 13 January.

Vaalvi is running successfully in cineplexes since its third week, at a time when majority of cinephiles are thronging to watch Pathan. The Marathi language drama film seems to have established a steady foothold in the theatres. In some places, the screening of the drama film has also tripled.

Vaalvi revolves around the story of a married couple who decide to end their lives. However, the story takes a shocking turn, it is later revealed that the woman’s husband is planning to murder his wife with the help of his lover. Touted to be a thriller-comedy, Vaalvi stars Swapnil Joshi, Subodh Bhave, Shivani Surve and Anita Date.

Meanwhile, speaking of Pathan, the film is creating waves at the tickets at the theatres. Starring John Abraham as the antagonist with an extended cameo from Dimple Kapadia, Ashutosh Rana and Salman Khan, Shah Rukh weaves magic as he returns to films after a long gap of almost four years.
