Maoists: Maharashtra government rewards police for Gadchiroli encounter. Thane News – Times of India

Thane: The state has announced a monetary reward of Rs 51 lakh for the police and security personnel involved in the encounter on Saturday. Maoists dead in Gadchiroli District Guardian Minister Eknathi Shinde announced on Monday.
Shinde, who was present in Gadchiroli on Monday, said the police force showed exemplary courage in tracking down and eliminating the Maoists in their stronghold. Shinde said, “Access to the area where they were hiding was not easy. Our police had to cover several kilometers in the treacherous area to hunt down the Maoists.”
Shinde said that despite being injured, the force continued its fight against the Maoists and successfully neutralized 26 of them, including prominent activist Milind Teltumbde. The police have also recovered a huge quantity of advanced arms and ammunition from the Naxalites.
“As a token of appreciation for the efforts and dedication of the police, we have decided to reward the force. I have spoken to the District Collector for an allocation of Rs 51 lakh from the District Planning Fund and the same will be presented. Gadchiroli Police soon,” Shinde said through a press statement.
