Mansukh Mandaviya visits Serum Institute’s Vaccine Plant in Pune

Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers Mansukh Mandaviya on Friday visited the vaccine manufacturing plant of Serum Institute of India (SII) in Pune.

The minister also learned about the production process as well as reviewed the roll out of COVID-19 vaccine ‘Covishield’ from the facility. “Visted @SerumInstIndia in Pune today. Familiarize yourself with the vaccination production at your plant. Deeply appreciating his exemplary role during the pandemic, I assured him of all government support in expediting vaccine production to ensure #FreeVaccineForAll,” tweeted Mandaviya.

Secretary, Department of Pharmaceuticals, S Aparna also visited the plant along with the Minister. SII is the world’s largest vaccine manufacturer by the number of doses produced and sold globally. Later in the day, Mandaviya also inaugurated a facility to manufacture alcoholic hand disinfectants at Hindustan Antibiotics Limited’s plant in Pimpri, Pune.
