Manoj Bajpayee got candid about his friendship with Anurag Kashyap.

Manoj Bajpayee opened up about his friendship with Anurag Kashayp in a recent interview.

Manoj Bajpayee, the renowned actor known for his work in Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Gangs of Wasseypur,’ reflected on his evolving relationship with the filmmaker. Despite their collaboration on the film ‘Satya,’ where Anurag co-wrote the script and Manoj portrayed the character Bhiku Mhatre, Manoj revealed a shift in their interactions. Describing Anurag as a ‘loner’ and ‘detached,’ Manoj mentioned that they don’t meet frequently anymore.

During an interview with Sushant Sinha on YouTube, Manoj expressed the challenges of forming genuine friendships in the film industry. When asked about Anurag, Manoj acknowledged Anurag’s wisdom and how he has learned from him, despite their age gap. However, Manoj characterized Anurag as someone who values solitude, preferring his own company over socializing. He humorously noted Anurag’s tendency to engage in lengthy conversations but possibly souring after extended interactions, quipping that this dynamic is why he avoids meeting Anurag.

“He’s a detached person; he’s a loner. Actually, he’s my junior by several years, but because he’s a wise man – he reads a lot – I have learned a lot from him. But he’s a recluse; he enjoys his own company and doesn’t meet too many people. He’s the kind of person who can speak to you for two hours, but in the third hour start hating you.” Manoj added with a laugh, “And that’s why I don’t meet him,” the actor shared.

Manoj’s rift with the filmmaker came to an end when he received an unexpected offer to star in ‘Gangs of Wasseypur.’ Recalling the event in an interview with Humans of Bombay, Manoj shared, “I received a call from Anurag Kashyap around 10:30 pm, just as I was winding down for the day. It had been years since we last spoke, and unresolved conflicts lingered between us. However, that one call managed to resolve all our issues.”

On work front, Manoj will be soon seen in Family Man season 3 series. The actor recently shared a major update about the third season of The Family Man. The actor will reprise his role as Srikant Tiwari, who is a ‘middle-class guy and a world class spy’. Srikant will expertly confront the looming threat to national security, while balancing the demands of family life and desperately working to mend his relationship with his wife in the new season.
