Narwal claimed the top honor, while his compatriots Sinharaj Adhana An effort of 216.7 added a silver to their kitty, giving India a 1-2 in the mixed 50m pistol SH1 event.
“I’m really happy that we both finished in the top two and won gold and silver for our country. I went to bed when the national anthem was played. It was a huge moment for me and I will always cherish it. I am only 19 years old and I have a long way to go,” Narwal told Timesofindia.com in an exclusive interview.
“(But) I will not be satisfied with one gold medal. I can play at least 4 to 5 Paralympics and I am sure I will come back with a medal in every edition.”

Narwal was also a part of the men’s 10m Air Pistol SH1 event. He finished the qualification round on top with a total of 575, but dropped out of the medal bracket among the eight finalists in the final. He finished seventh.
“I wanted to win a medal in 10m too but it didn’t happen,” he said.
However, Narwal did not let that disappointment rob his chances in the 50m event.
“It’s hard to come back after a loss. You need a psychological boost and a fresh start. I put all the gloom and sadness behind me and promised myself that I will come back. I will get a gold medal in 50m.” Was determined to win. I am glad that I fulfilled the promise I made to myself.”
Narwal’s Story – Turning Left Hand
Narwal, a resident of Faridabad, Haryana, had a defect in his right shoulder and hand since his birth. Doctors informed her family about the immobility of her right shoulder and arm. His family visited several doctors and hospitals across the country but to no avail. Still they kept trying but not a single ray of hope came to them.
“I was unable to lift my right hand. My family struggled a lot but never gave up. In fact, a doctor was ready to operate on me but he cautioned my family against the risk. He said that if If something goes wrong, my body can get damaged 100 percent. In the end, he accepted fate and started doing everything to turn me into a left-handed batsman.” He said, “Whatever I am today, it is because of my family. I am indebted to my life.
He said, “When I was disappointed after losing the 10m final, I spoke to my family. They said that even if I returned without a medal, they would praise me for my performance, yet They will consider me as the winner.”

Huge jump in Avni’s gold
Narwal was applauding with all the shooters and coaches avani lekhra When he won the gold medal in the 10m Air Rifle Standing event. This was India’s first gold in Tokyo Paralympics.
Narwal said, “Avni’s gold gave a big boost to all of us. It motivated me to perform well. It was a great start from here and we wanted to keep the momentum going. I am really happy that I am.” Managed to get India another gold medal.” said.
The contribution of Narwal’s gold in the overturning Tokyo 2020 Paralympics India’s best ever medal tally with a total of 19 medals including five gold, eight silver and six bronze.
