Manipur elections 2022: Congress announces 10 more candidates in second list

New Delhi: The Congress party on Tuesday announced 10 more candidates in its second list for the 2022 Manipur elections.

The party had earlier announced 40 candidates. With the second list, the Congress is yet to reveal the names for the remaining 10 seats.

The 10 new candidates announced by the Congress are as follows.

Notably, BJP MLA P Saratchandra joined the Congress on Monday after he quit the saffron camp, failing to secure a ticket for the Manipur Assembly elections.

Senior BJP leaders N Biren and N Joykumar also followed suit.

Saratchandra, who represents Moirang seat, accused the BJP of favoring the new people instead of the old ones.

The Congress has joined hands with five other political parties to form a pre-poll alliance to defeat the BJP-led government in Manipur.

Congress has the responsibility of sharing the election with CPI, CPI(M), RSP, JD(S) and Forward Bloc in the upcoming assembly elections.

According to the Congress, the parties have joined hands with a common goal to defeat the BJP.
