Manipur Assembly Elections: Re-polling to be held on March 5 in 12 polling stations

The polling stations where re-polling will be held in Khundrakapam, Saitu, Thanlon, Henglap and Churachandpur assembly constituencies.

The Election Commission has ordered re-polling in 12 polling stations in five assembly constituencies of Manipur where polling was held on February 28. A statement issued by Manipur’s Chief Electoral Officer Rajesh Agarwal said that the polling will be held on March 5. Polling stations where re-polling will take place. Elections are to be held in Khundrakapam, Saitu, Thanlon, Henglap and Churachandpur assembly constituencies. The re-polling was recommended based on the facts received and reported by the respective returning officers at these polling stations, the statement said.

The main reason for considering re-polling was the damage to EVMs by miscreants during and after polling, the statement said. The polling stations going for re-polling are Sarouthel, New Keithelmanbi, Songsang, Maite, Tinseong, Mazuron Kuki, An Chingfei, Khoirentak, Molsang, Leinom, Tikot and Maukot. The first phase of elections for 38 assembly seats was held on February 28, while the second phase, covering 22 constituencies, is to be held on March 5.
