MANGALURU: Mangaluru city police commissioner N Shashi Kumar said the police were probing allegations of knives being distributed among the workers. Bajrang Dali And Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) by its leaders in the city as part of aTrishul Dixit‘Events organized during Ayudha Puja Ceremony on Thursday.
It is said that the leaders of the party and the VHP had distributed knives to their workers and the pictures of the program went viral.
However, the leaders of the Hindu organization have denied the allegations of distribution of arms and claimed that it was just a symbolic program of distributing ‘trishul’.
VHP zonal secretary Sharan Pumpwell said, “Many people are opposing the Trishul Dixit program organized by us. We have not distributed bombs or grenades. We, being worshipers of ‘Shakti’, organized Trishul Diksha. We had organized this program during Ayudha Puja to instil confidence among the workers and to protect the religion. It is not against anyone and is not aimed at harming people. We have been organizing this event every year, but due to COVID-19 this event was not organized in the last two years.”
He claimed that the trident distributed on the occasion was not a lethal weapon. “We have distributed trishul made of steel and it does not have any sharp edge to hurt anyone,” he said.
Responding to the incident, the Commissioner of Police told reporters that there are reports of Trishul Dixit programs being organized in several districts. Dakshina Kannada.
“We found during verification that they have been organizing the program every year symbolically. I have directed the officials to collect more information and take action if anything illegal is found in it. The organizers claim that it was just a symbolic event which is followed every year.
