Mangaluru: Mangaluru Municipal Corporation (mcc) has prepared a draft list after observing the applications received for the appointment of ward committees in 60 wards.
Based on the directions of the High Court, in the meeting of the Council held in September 2020, it was decided to form ward committees in all the wards. Though the process of receiving applications from eligible citizens for ward committees was completed in December last year, the municipal corporation could not prepare the list till the end of July due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The MCC commissioner said that the draft list of eligible citizens to be made members of ward committees would be published on August 2, inviting objections and suggestions. Akshay Sridhar.
“In pursuance of the advice on ward committee The applications of the coming wards were reviewed in the review meeting held on 18 June 2021. A tentative list containing the names of all the nominated or eligible members has been prepared in July. This list will be displayed on the website and notice board of the Municipal Corporation from Monday.
Citizens are requested to lodge their objections and complaints at the zonal offices within a period of 15 days, addressed to the zonal commissioner and inventory officers at the central office, or email the same concerns to mccwardcommittee@gmail.com,” the commissioner said. Said.
It is mandatory that all municipal corporations are required to constitute ward committees with 10 members in each ward as per the 2011 amendment. Karnataka Municipal Act. Thereafter, the MCC invited applications from citizens to participate as its members in the Ward Committees. He said that while November 15 was the last date, the municipal corporation extended the deadline to December 4 based on the requests of the people.
“All the applications have been scrutinized and ward wise list has also been prepared. The process could not be continued between April 23 and June 16 due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” he said.
