Manchester United beat Newcastle 4-1 on Cristiano Ronaldo Stars Old Trafford Return

New Delhi: Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice on Manchester United’s return as they beat Newcastle United 4-1 in Saturday’s Premier League match.

United continue to top the table in the league as their unbeaten start to the season continued at Old Trafford. Paul Pogba assisted Bruno Fernandes and substituted Jesse Lingard for United’s other two goals.

The 36-year-old forward scored from very close just before the half-time whistle, before Newcastle pushed United back in the second half via Manquillo’s goal. The visitors were level for only six minutes, though a shot hit Woodman’s legs before Ronaldo took his second.

Fernandes fired a third from the edge of the D before Lingard wrapped things up in stoppage time after coming off the bench.

Elsewhere, substitute Odsonne Edouard scored twice and Wilfried Zaha converted the penalty as Crystal Palace beat 10-man Tottenham Hotspur for their first win under new manager Patrick Vieira. Spurs, who were missing Son Heung-min with an injury, suffered another blow when Eric Dier was injured early.

From the very beginning of the match, every Manchester United fan’s eyes were on Cristiano Ronaldo who did not disappoint at all. Ronaldo parted ways from Manchester United to join Real Madrid in 2009, but the star striker has made a comeback after 12 years.

After returning to Manchester United, Ronaldo went on to achieve the record for the most goals scored in international football. Now Ronaldo has scored a total of 111 goals at the international level.
