Greater Noida: A sessions court on Wednesday sentenced a man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for the abduction and rape of a 14-year-old girl. Greater Noida‘s Surajpur,
According to the statement of the girl in the court, Sunil – From Fatehpur (Uttar Pradesh) – was a neighbor. On 2 July 2015, she was going for a tuition class when he asked her to accompany him to a local shop nearby.
“There he gave me something to eat that contained sedatives. Soon I lost consciousness and then he raped me,” the girl told the court. She also said that she considered him as her “brother.”
The girl’s parents were not at home at the time of the incident. When he did not return home that day, his father lodged a complaint with the police. They later found that 20-year-old Sunil was absconding from his house and suspected his role behind his disappearance. “We went to her tuition class and came to know that she does not attend tuitions. Later we found that Sunil was absconding,” said the father.
Later the police went to Sunil’s house where they found the girl unconscious. The fleeing Sunil was apprehended the next day and sent to judicial custody.

Sunil was sentenced to five years imprisonment and fined Rs 3,000 under section 363 (kidnapping) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). It has been said in the order that under Section 4(2) of the POCSO Act, he has been separately sentenced to 20 years in jail. In default of payment of fine, the convict will have to undergo an additional jail term of six months. Noida Deputy Commissioner of Police (Women Safety) Vrinda Shukla On Wednesday, the force was taking seriously the cases of crimes against women and children to ensure speedy justice.
