Belagavi: A 38-year-old Coolie Has been arrested for having unnatural sex with a 24-year-old man in Athani taluk Belagavi District.
The accused is Raju Acharatti, a resident of Sankonatti village in the taluk.
The incident happened on 5 October. Raju, who works in a hotel in Athani, is said to have met the victim while he was waiting at the Athani bus stand to go to his village Sankonatti. Since both of them are residents of Sankonatti, Raju offered to drop the victim home on his bike. But on the way, Raju allegedly stopped his bike at a secluded spot, dragged the victim to the sugarcane field and forced her on. It is said that Raju was drunk then.
In addition to this sodomyRaju also allegedly bitten and slapped the victim, threatening her not to reveal the matter to anyone, or else he would kill her and her family.
Seeing the changed behavior of the victim, her sister felt something wrong and inquired about it. When he informed about the incident, he took him to the police station and lodged a case.
Athani ASI told TOI that after the complaint they have arrested Raju. The accused is in police custody, while the victim has been sent for medical examination.
Police said that they are waiting for the medical reports of the two for further investigation. The ASI said that based on the complaint, the police registered a case under sections 377, 324 and 506 of the IPC.
