A woman in Belgium narrowly escaped when a man deliberately pushed her into the path of an oncoming metro train. The hair-raising incident was caught on CCTV camera and since then the video has gone viral.

A barely 30-second clip shows passengers waiting for a train at the Rogier metro station in Brussels on Friday evening. As the train approaches the station, a man in a black T-shirt sneaks up behind a woman and gives her a big push. The woman loses her balance and falls on the track just in front of the oncoming train.

Luckily for him, the train driver applies the brakes on time. The subway stops inches away from the stunned woman, who struggles to get her bearings. Passersby rushed to help derail him.

Brussels Times reported That the train driver saw the woman falling on the tracks and quickly hit the emergency brake, causing the metro to come to a standstill.

Both the victim and the metro driver were taken to the hospital for treatment, after which they were allowed to go home.

A spokesman for the Brussels Public Transport Company, which operates the metro, told the Brussels Times: “The driver reacted very well, but is in great shock, as is the victim.”

The accused who ran away after pushing the woman in front of the train was later arrested. He has been charged with attempted murder. A psychiatrist has been appointed by the court to examine his mental condition.

The incident is being further investigated.
