Ahead of the presidential election in the country, the round of meetings in the opposition is going on. After West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, now NCP Chief Sharad Pawar has called an opposition meeting in New Delhi on June 21. A senior TMC leader told that Mamta Banerjee will not be able to attend the meeting due to some important programs. However, on behalf of TMC, Abhishek Banerjee will be present in the meeting. On June 15, the opposition meeting was held in Delhi under the leadership of Mamta Banerjee. In the meeting, the names of Sharad Pawar, Farooq Abdullah and Gopal Gandhi were agreed upon. In the name of NCP Chief Sharad Pawar, there were reports of the opposition agreeing before this meeting, but Sharad Pawar refused to become the opposition’s candidate for this Presidential post.

Farooq Abdullah said – Kashmir needs me
After this the discussion started on the name of Farooq Abdullah. On the other hand, former Jammu and Kashmir CM Farooq withdrew his name respecting the decision of the joint opposition. He said that you all believed in me, thank you all for this. I feel very honored, but right now Kashmir needs me.

The situation here is not good after the abrogation of Article 370. Now the election campaign has also started, so it is necessary for me to be here. That’s why I want to withdraw my name respectfully, we will stand with all our strength with the name of the leader of the United Opposition who will agree.

These leaders had attended Mamta’s meeting
Leaders of Congress, Shiv Sena, Communist Party of India, Communist Party of India Marxist, CPI-ML, Peoples Democratic Party, Janata Dal (Secular), RSP, IUML, Rashtriya Lok Dal and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha attended Mamata’s meeting.
