The first look of Malayalam superstar Mammootty’s upcoming film has been released. Titled CBI 5, the upcoming film is the fifth and final part in the CBI film franchise. The veteran actor shared the first look on social media, in which Mammootty is seen standing in a lobby with folded hands behind his back.
Sharing the photo on Instagram, the actor wrote, “Official leak! #CBI5 #Untitled.”
Mammootty will be seen in the role of Central Bureau of Investigation officer Sethuram Iyer in the film. This is the first time in Indian cinema that a fifth part of a film is being made.
Initially, Oru CBI Diary Kurippu was released in 1988 followed by Jagriti in 1989. Five years later Sethuram Iyer CBI came in 2004 and the fourth in the series was Neerarian CBI, which was released in 2005. After a long hiatus, the fifth part of CBI went into production at the end of last year.
The roles of Chacko and Vikram are being reprized by Mukesh and Jagti Sreekumar respectively. Apart from this, K Madhu has also returned to direct the film. Meanwhile, the screenplay has been written by SN Swamy.
Produced by Swargachitra Films, the veteran actor will be seen in formal attire and sporting a thick mustache with a signature sindoor mark on his forehead.
Jake Bejoy is providing the background score for the fifth part. Akhil George will handle the cinematography and A Sreekar Prasad will look after the editing department.
Apart from Mammootty, the star-studded film also stars Mukesh, Renji Panicker, Dilesh Pothan, Soubin Shahir, Ramesh Pisharodi, Asha Sarath and many more.
On the professional front, Mammootty has several highly anticipated upcoming films lined up this year. He is currently awaiting the release of his new film Bhishma Parvam directed by Amal Neerad, which is slated to hit the theaters on February 24.
With debutant director Ratheena’s family drama Puzhu, the actor has an amazing project with Lijo Jose Pellissery.
