West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee met Congress interim President Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday. Rahul Gandhi was also present in the meeting.

Addressing the media right after the meeting, Mamata said, “The meeting with Sonia Gandhi was good. We discussed the issue of COVID and Pegasus.” Talking about a united opposition, she said, “I cannot do anything alone. Everyone has to come together.”

She remained in a dilemma on being the face of the opposition to take on the BJP, saying it would depend on the situation. On the issue of leadership, she said, “I want to help all the opposition parties. I don’t want to be a leader, but an ordinary cadre.”
