Mallikarjun Kharge Slams ED Searches At Lalu Yadav’s Family Premises, Says Modi Government Trying To Kill Democracy

New Delhi: Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Friday accused the Narendra Modi government of “devious attempts to murder democracy” by misusing investigative agencies against opposition leaders, as he alleged ED searches at former Bihar chief minister Lalu Prasad’s premises. But criticized the Centre. Yadav’s family.

The Enforcement Directorate on Friday carried out searches in several cities and other places in Bihar, including the premises of Yadav’s family and other RJD leaders, in connection with the money laundering probe in the land for jobs ‘scam’ case.

Agency sources said the ED seized Rs 53 lakh, USD 1,900, about 540 grams of gold and bullion and 1.5 kg of gold jewelery in its raids. He said that one of the places that were searched was a house in South Delhi where Lalu Prasad’s son and Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Tejashwi Yadav was present.

Responding to the searches, Kharge said in a tweet in Hindi, “Modi ji has kept ED at Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav’s house for the last 14 hours.”

Kharge said, “His pregnant wife and sisters are being harassed. Lalu Prasad ji is old, sick, yet the Modi government has not shown humanity towards him.” “Now the water has gone over the head.”

He alleged, “Modi government is making a devious attempt to murder democracy by misusing ED-CBI against opposition leaders.”

He questioned that when the fugitives ran away from the country with crores of rupees, then where were the agencies of the Modi government.

“When ‘best friend’s’ fortunes skyrocket, why is there no investigation?” he said, apparently referring to industrialist Gautam Adani, whom the Congress has accused of being a close friend of Narendra Modi. The public will give a befitting reply to this dictatorship!

The raids also raided places like Patna, Phulwari Sharif, Delhi-NCR, Ranchi and Ranchi linked to Lalu Prasad’s daughters Ragini Yadav, Chanda Yadav and Hema Yadav, former RJD MLAs Syed Abu Dojana, Amit Katyal, Navdeep Sardana and Praveen Jain were killed. Mumbai, officials said.
