Malayali actor Srijit Ravi gets bail in POCSO case

Kochi: Malayalam actor Sreejith Ravi on Friday got bail from the Kerala High Court in a case of obscene performance registered under the POCSO Act.

The court informed his wife and his father that he should be treated fairly and if he repeats the offense, his bail will stand cancelled.

Last week, Sreejit Ravi was arrested from his Thrissur house under the POCSO Act on charges of obscene exposure.

Popular actor TG Ravi’s son Sreejith was arrested in 2016 for a similar offense but managed to get out after the police registered a case on alleged frivolous grounds.

Earlier this month on July 4, two children, aged 14 and 9, complained to the police about a man who came in a black car and behaved indecently at a park in Thrissur, the state’s cultural capital.

Soon Thrissur West police swung into action and checked the CCTV footage and managed to zero-in the car. After reaching the house of the accused, they came to know that it is of actor Sreejeet.

He has been taken into custody and a detailed investigation has been initiated into the matter.

Forty-six-year-old Sreejeet is a mechanical engineer by profession and also has a management degree. He entered the Malayalam film industry in 2005 and acted in over 70 films.
