The COVID-19 pandemic has given us many life lessons, most importantly one must take care of one’s mental and physical existence. The year 2021 saw a shift towards healthy eating, while people included exercise, exercise and yoga in their daily routine. As the threat of the Omicron variant rises amid a rise in COVID-19 infections, we should be practicing these 10 Healthy New Year’s Resolutions in 2022.

  1. Focus on whole foods such as vegetables, whole grains, fruits, legumes, nuts, seeds and pure protein sources. Avoid processed foods, including bread, cheese, processed meats and frozen meals.
  2. Don’t be tempted by celebrities or peer pressure to follow a ‘fad’ diet to get a toned body. A sudden change in diet takes a toll on your metabolism and mental health. Follow diets that you can maintain long after you achieve your target weight without feeling hungry/restricted. Staying fit and healthy should be your long-term goal.
  3. Vitamin D intake is also essential for bone health and the immune system. Few people know that it can help prevent chronic health problems such as heart disease, diabetes and even some types of cancer. Make sure you get at least 15-20 minutes of sunlight exposure daily, and include a vitamin D supplement in your daily diet.
  4. Stimulating the supply of oxygen to every part of your body is essential, therefore, exercising, or playing a sport, or simply going for a walk is important for optimal functioning of your body. Incorporate some form of physical activity into your daily life.
  5. Under no circumstances should sleep be compromised. It is important that a person gets 7-8 hours of sound sleep every day. Proper sleep will not only keep you refreshed and energized but will also help with the intake of nutrients from your food.
  6. One of the biggest things of the year 2021 is that every little thing should not be stressed.
  7. We all get irritated when we are sad at the end of the day, but how to stop it? One way to do this is to create a morning routine. You must spend some time before facing people, or before going to work. Starting each day this way will help you regain control of yourself and your day.
  8. Positive self-talk won’t make you a narcissist. It’s helpful to have confirmation before you kickstart your day.
  9. Find your passion and give it some time. Singing, writing, dancing, painting, sketching and many other hobbies serve as recreational activities that not only relieve stress but also help you find solutions in the most unexpected of ways. They also give you clarity.
  10. If you’re going to have a busy day or you have too many on your plate, set daily goals and make sure you accomplish them.
