The Income Tax Department on Friday raided the premises of perfume trader and Samajwadi Party MLA Pushpraj Jain ‘Pumpi’ in Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh. Based on specific information about tax evasion, searches were conducted at around 50 places in Uttar Pradesh, National Capital Region (NCR), Mumbai and other places, the sources said. The searches were mostly done on those people who are involved in the perfumery business.
Earlier this month, the Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI) raided Kanpur-based perfume trader Piyush Jain and recovered over 197 crore cash, 23 kg gold and goods worth Rs 6 crore from his associated premises in Kanpur and Kannauj. . Interestingly, Pushpraj Jain and Piyush Jain are in the same business and live in the same neighbourhood.
