Make Bihar a developed state by 2047: President Kovind to MPs Patna News – Times of India

Patna : President Ram Nath Kovind On Thursday, he appealed to legislators across the country, including Bihar, to adopt ethical behavior and change their “style of work” to fulfill the developmental aspirations of the people.
The President appealed to lawmakers to transform Bihar into a “full-fledged state” in all respects of the Human Development Index by 2047, the year the country will celebrate its centenary of independence.
Kovind was addressing a function in the premises of the Bihar state legislature to mark the centenary celebrations of his building, the foundation of which was laid by Viceroy Lord Hardinge in 1913 and construction was completed in 1920. The first session of the state legislature, established under the 1919 Government of India Act, consisting of the Council and the Legislative Assembly, was held on February 7, 1921.
“There is a strong desire for a better future among the people of the country including Bihar. I am sure that you, the MLA, will endeavor to fulfill the aspirations of the people with your ethical behavior and matching working style,” the President said.
The President noted that Bihar has already made its mark in the global cultural arena, especially with regard to Chhath Puja. “Chhath has become a truly global festival. It is celebrated on a large scale from Nawada in Bihar to New Jersey in America and Begusarai to Boston. Similarly, Bihar will set new records of development by following all the standards.
In his brief address, Kovind also touched on his love for Bihar and the reciprocity towards it by the people of the state when he was the governor of the state, and of course, became the President. The first President of the country, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, who was from Bihar and President Dr. Zakir hussainWho has also been the governor of the state. I am trying to get it done,” he said.
Kovind traces the development of the state system of Bihar in the period before and after independence, saying that this state has been the birthplace of the world’s first republican state at Vaishali during the period of Lord Buddha. Accordingly, he noted the presence of Buddhist ethos and inputs into the country’s constitution.
The state assembly speaker also addressed the function. Vijay Kumar SinhaCM Nitish Kumar and Governor Fagu Chauhan. Deputy CM Tarkishore Prasad and Renu Devi were also on the stage. Around 1,000 sitting and former MLAs and MPs, as well as some Padma award winners, were among the invitees.
In line with the theme of the occasion revolving around the importance of debate in legislative practice, Governor Chouhan appealed to the MPs to debate before passing the bill to make it a law. Speaker Sinha said the debate was fundamental to legislative work and law-making exercise.
Nitish presented a comprehensive overview of the steps taken by his government to promote Bihari identity by practicing inclusive developmental development and cultural progress, including the provision of Buddhist tradition and infrastructural support, in Bodh Gaya and Patna.
The President said Nitish followed an “egalitarian” model of development, in which he had set the record for serving as the state’s chief minister for the longest period in the post-independence period.
The President and his accompanying people on the dais released a souvenir on the state assembly. Earlier, Kovind had laid the foundation stone for the construction of a pillar to commemorate the centenary year of the Legislature Building in the complex.
Meanwhile, Nitish announced that 15 days’ leave would be given to government employees and officials willing to sit in ‘Vipassana’ meditation for 10 days at Patna’s Buddha Smriti Park. The Government of Maharashtra has also been providing 10 days leave per year to its officers and employees for this purpose.
