Mahmudullah Riyadh told the time of Test match career

Bangladesh batsman Mahmudullah Riyadh on Wednesday announced his retirement from Test cricket after a career spanning 12 years. The 35-year-old played his last Test in July this year against Zimbabwe in Harare, which Bangladesh won by 220 runs. The right-handed batsman scored an unbeaten 150 in his final innings – his fifth Test century, and was named player of the match.

He scored 2,914 runs at an average of 33.49 and took 43 wickets while captaining the team six times in Tests. Local media reported that Mahmudullah told his teammates during the Zimbabwe Test but waited to make a formal announcement. “It is not easy to leave the format that I have been a part of for so long. I’ve always thought of going high and I believe this is the right time to end my Test career.”

His announcement came two days before Bangladesh began their two-Test series against Pakistan. Bangladesh Twenty20 captain Mahmudullah, who was not picked for the Pakistan Test, promised to continue playing the other two formats. For my country in white-ball cricket,” he said.
