Maharashtra: With 21 lakh immunizations, Thane district has the worst Covid-19 vaccination rate in the state. Thane News – Times of India

Thane: Thane district has the highest number of people without vaccination Maharashtra Over 21 Million People Haven’t Got Their First Shot Yet COVID-19. Even after ten months of vaccination, there are still 2.52 crore people in the state who have not yet taken their first sleep.
About 73% of Maharashtra’s 9.14 crore adult population has taken at least one shot so far. While one-third of the state’s eligible population has now been fully vaccinated. The state on Tuesday completed 3 crore people by giving both the shots.
State government data shows that more than 10 lakh people have not been vaccinated in nine of the 36 districts. Thane is the only district where more than 20 lakh people have not been vaccinated. Nashik is just after Thane where 18.25 lakh people are waiting for their first dose. Remaining districts where more than 10 lakh people have not taken a single shot Aurangabad (17.33 Lakh), Jalgaon (13.52 Lakh), Nanded (13.02 Lakh), Solapur (12.35 Lakh), Ahmednagar (11.71 Lakh), Yavatmali (10.46 lakh), Amravati
(10.43 lakhs) and Beed (10.39 lakhs). Less than 2 lakh people in Mumbai have not been vaccinated.
Thane Collector Rajesh Narvekar said that the population structure of the district is a unique challenge. Within the district of 1.1 crore people, there are six corporations that cover urban, rural and tribal communities. While the tech-savvy and curious urban population was immediately vaccinated, rural and tribal communities protested.
“For example, the tribal villages of Shahpur are against modern medicine, so we have to give them time to accept vaccinations,” the collector said. He says the scene will change once the paddy harvesting season is over. “We are optimistic about covering the entire population with at least one dose by December,” Dr. Sachin Desai, State Immunization Officer.
